What a great place Lake and Peninsula Borough is to grow up, but you also know it is a place with many challenges. The Borough tries to make living here a bit easier. The Borough's primary responsibility is for public schools. Additionally, the Borough works on projects to improve residents' lives like capital improvement projects, like transportation and alternative energy. Here are some of the projects the Borough has completed, is currently working on, and have set for future goals.

Ida Nelson had just finished taking a steam when she heard the plane overhead. It was late, around 11 p.m. She told the story during last week's Red Cross Real Heroes awards ceremony.
Somebody needed extended care, and the only way to get it is to get them on a medevac and out to Anchorage, she said.
