Lake and Peninsula Borough is renowned for hunting and fishing, and the statistics seem to support it.  The Pope & Young Club is recognized as the official repository for records on bow-harvested North American big game animals.  Their records for bear ( show the first, second, third and eighth largest bears were claimed in Lake and Peninsula Borough.
